Teak Wood Worktops
Teak Wood Worktops - Teak is said to be indigenous to India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina and Java. It has been extensively planted for wood or as an ornamental within its natural range and throughout the tropical regions of the world, including East and West Africa, as well as Cuba and the Caribbean, and South America from Panama to Brazil. Typically a straight grain with unique wavy watermark type patterns. Deep Chocolate colour. An exclusive top, beautiful yet extremely tough.
Teak is a medium-weight timber which is rather soft and has a very characteristic appearance. The heartwood is often dull yellowish when freshly cut but it turns golden brown or sometimes dark greyish-brown after exposure, often streaked greyish or blackish; the sapwood is yellowish-white or pale yellowish-brown and up to 50 mm thick. The wood is oily to the touch, and when freshly cut it has a smell reminiscent of leather. The grain of the wood is straight, wavy or slightly interlocked.
Worktops come in a maximum length of 360mm. Due to being too long for most courier services, if given the pattern we can provide the service of cutting it down for you.
