Iroko Wood Worktops

Iroko Wood Worktops - The dark hues of this rich African hardwood produce a stunning effect when used in the right kitchen environment. Often called 'African Teak', it makes a most durable wood worktop with its high resistance to staining. Iroko is used throughout the world for the construction of boats, houses and furniture.

When freshly cut, or when unexposed to light, the heartwood is a distinct yellow colour, but on exposure to light it quickly becomes golden-brown. The sapwood is narrow, being about 50mm to 75mm wide, and clearly defined. Iroko has excellent strength properties, comparing well with teak. An excellent finish can be obtained if the grain is filled. It takes nails and screws well, and can be glued satisfactorily.

The timber is of great importance in both East and West Africa. It is valuable for ship and boat-building, light flooring, interior and exterior joinery, window frames, sills, stair treads, fire-proof doors, laboratory benches, furniture, carvings, marine uses such as piling, dock and harbour work, and produces a satisfactory sliced veneer.

Our Iroko Kitchen Worktops Are Pre-Oiled

Each kitchen Worktop is treated in the factory with WOCA FDA approved real wood oxidising & hardening worktop oils, and finished with the 150-grit WOCA Patina Disc procedure to ensure full oil saturation to produce maximum protection with a smooth surface finish

These Iroko kitchen worktops are made to 3 and 4 metre lengths with the following specs:

3 metre lengths

  • 3030x615x28mm
  • 3000x600x28mm
